presented by Mapei and IKB

One day before the official start of the 2018 UCI Road World Championships the regional theatre in Innsbruck, located in the heart of the finish area, returns from its summer break with the premiere  of Carmen on 21 September. The performance can be followed not only in the plush surroundings of the theatre itself but also free of charge outside the theatre via a live broadcast on a big screen. Pack a picnic, settle down on a rug with friends and enjoy one of the world’s most famous operas. There will be plenty of goosebumps when Carmen sings of limitless freedom in her famous Habañera as the sun slowly sets behind the mountains.

Love, passion, jealousy and death: Georges Bizet‘s internationally renowned Carmen resembles a soundtrack to the pleasure and pain of relationships. Its main character, Carmen, is a confident and feisty woman whose ability to seduce men ends in tragedy. Don’t miss!

It was the great passion for Zucchero Fornaciari’s music that lead to the creation of the OI&B (Oro, Incenso & Birra) project in 2003. The Tribute Band, based in Padua, captained by Christian Garbinato who has an extraordinary resemblance with Zucchero, both physically and vocally, pays homage in a convincing manner to the Blues of the Artist from Emilia Romagna, while succeeding in transmitting a strong personal artistic image. From the blues ballads like “Diamante”, “Il Volo” and “Dune Mosse” to the insistent rhythms of “Diavolo In Me”, “Baila” and “Per colpa di chi?”, "Vedo nero", a highly entertaining and dynamic show is presented.

Finish: Innsbruck, Rennweg
Time: 12.10 pm - 4.45 pm

Medal Ceremony: 5.00 pm, finish area Innsbruck

Course: Starting from the main square in the centre of Kufstein, this very selective course takes riders through the town and then along the length of the Inn Valley to Innsbruck. Strong riders will look to break away on the section from Schwoich to Bad Häring. From the village of Langkampfen the route leads to Maria Stein, a popular place of pilgrimage. The following Angerberg climb should not be underestimated and will sap the riders’ strength. After passing through the Seenregion, known for its beautiful lakes, the course remains flat all the way to Schwaz. The first major highlight of the course will be the steep climb to Gnadenwald (max. gradient 14%). From there it is a fast run down from Axams to Innsbruck. Once in the regional capital, riders complete four laps of the Olympic Circuit. Even before reaching the Olympic Circuit the riders will already have 90 kilometres of tough riding in their legs from Kufstein to Innsbruck.

Challenge: The Angerberg climb and the steep climb to Gnadenwald (max. gradient 14%) will sap the riders’ strength.
