Anna van der Breggen (Netherlands) wins Women Elite Road Race
The Dutch rider Anna van der Breggen won the Women Elite Road Race at the 2018 UCI Road World Championships Innsbruck-Tirol in Austria. Amanda Spratt (Australia) and Tatiana Guderzo (Italy) finished second and third respectively.

Speaking seconds after the race the winner Anna van der Breggen said: “I didn’t know any gaps, so until the finish line I didn’t believe that I’d be the World Champion. I just rode as fast as possible. I was doubting if it was too early or not to attack by myself when I did it, but since I took this opportunity, I had to go. I know how difficult it is to win the World Championship, so I’m really happy.”
